Crawford Cup (1st round)
Coleraine took an early lead, capitalising on Academy’s failure to clear the ball in their own 22. Coleraine turned the ball over and a cross field kick bounced kindly for the right wing to score the opening try (5-0, 6-mins).
N.Carson reduced the deficit when Coleraine were penalised for a high tackle (5-3, 14 –mins). Academy eventually took the lead, running the infamous “curly-B” penalty move, with scrumhalf G.Braiden exploiting the gaps in the Coleraine defence (5-10, 36-mins).
Coleraine ended the half with a penalty (8-10, 39-mins).
Coleraine dominated in the second half wth two early tries (13-10, 42-mins) and (20-10, 47-mins). Coleraine added a third try as Academy struggled to get out of their own half (25-10, 55-mins).
Academy’s endeavour was eventually rewarded with G.Dobbin scoring a consolation try (25-15, 78-mins).
