Academy 2nds V Donaghadee 2nds  (27-11-10)

Academy skipper G.Davis led the way with the opening two trys, the first when the ball was moved wide from a scrum on Donaghadee’s 22m line (5-0,  3-mins) and for the second he had to power his way through several tackles (12-0,  18-mins).

At the other end of the pitch, Academy kept their line intact, thanks to the endeavour of I.Christie with a try saving tackle. K.Dobbin extended Academy’s lead when Donaghadee were penalised for diving over the ruck (15-0,  35-mins).

Donaghadee started the second half with 14 men, as their winger retired due to a head injury. As blizzard conditions descended upon Roughfort, the Academy backline were forced to run to keep warm, S.Vincent made good ground down the left wing, and when he was tackled, the ball was recycled quickly with K.Dobbin in support for the score (22-0,  52 mins). Still feeling the chill, fullback G.McCarthy started a move from his 22, again S.Vincent made ground on the wing, again the ball was recycled quickly, again Keith was there in support and again Dobbin scored (Graeme this time) (29-0,  59-mins).

In their attempt to keep warm, the forwards led by A.McCormack & S.Ingram started driving up the middle with a series of pick and go drives, and when the ball was released, P.Moffett used the old show and go to create his try (36-0,  62-mins). M.Nichol added another try from the restart (43-0,  63-mins).

Donaghadee did manage a late consolation try, when driving over following a 5m scrum.
