Saturday 28th April Mini Rugby Festival @Ballyclare RFC

2nd XV v BHSFP

B.H.S.F.P. 2nds V Academy 2nds  (23-Oct-10)

A penalty in the 1st minute (tackler not rolling away) gave High School an early lead    (3-0, 1-min) but Academy were quick to counter, with a quick tap penalty which was recycled for about 10 phases before centre W.Martin touched down (3-5, 6-mins).

This was soon followed up when, from a scrum in Academy’s half, J.Sampson picked up, fed the ball via the scrum half and fullback to winger I  Christie, who in turn made good ground down the touchline before kicking ahead, and was handed a try when the defender failed to ground the ball in the deadball area (3-10,  10-mins). A catch and drive from a 5m lineout produced a try for R.Ramsey (3-17,  17 mins).

Fullback J.Ball started the next attack, fielding a kick in his own 22, the ball was moved wide with left wing A.Crowe making ground, and as backs and forwards combined well, when the ball came back to the right wing J.Ball was on hand for the score (3-22, 23 mins). Andy Crowe scored Academy’s final try in the half, but at the expense of W.Martin who retired with a hamstring injury (3-27, 30-mins).

R.Ramsey scored his second try at the start of the second half, picking up from a ruck 15m out (3-34, 43-mins). As Academy kept the pressure on, S.Ingram charged down a clearance kick, and as the ball rebounded back over the try line, P.Moffett sneaked in ahead of him for the touchdown (3-39,  57-mins). J.Ball added a penalty kick (3-42,  65-mins), before High School exerted their first real sustained attack on Academy’s goal line, which after 5 or 6 short range penalties, managed a try in the corner (8-42, 70 mins). Shortly after the restart R.Ramsey was yellow carded (not rolling away) as a result of the earlier high number of goalline infringements. J.Ball ended the scoring with another penalty (8-45,  75-mins).
