2002 age group

Almost 20 Academy boys made the trip to Civil Service. The home side seemed to be struggling for numbers but did eventually produce 9 boys to give us a match. We started well with tries from Jack Davis and Fast Ben but Service were no push over and soon pulled one back. We responded with another try from Jack.  Service played a very direct game with virtually all of their players willing to run straight with the ball. Tackling was generally good but we did concede another try on the stroke of half time to leave it 3-2 at the break. The second half was also very even with tries exchanged early on (Fast Ben getting ours). Service then made it 4-4 with only minutes to go but Jack scored with the last play of the game to grab victory for us.  Referee Darren Johnston (Academy).

After a 10 minute break we played the same Service team again, although they had managed to increase their number to 11 with a couple of late comers (including a girl). We changed most of our team to give they boys not involved in the first match a run out. Another tight game but Academy were 1 up at half time. In the second half Service seemed to tire and we finished 3-0 winners but we still had to work for it. Tries from Nick, Jack and Ben. Referee Mark Davis (Academy).
