Match report for 2002
We had 18 kids attend for our home fixture against Ballyclare.
Ballyclare had slightly more kids and we were able to run 2 games at the same time.
Coaches Mark and Darren looked after 1 game and John and Neil looked after the other.
The report from John and Neil's games as follows(10 mins played each half)
The first game started off with a Ballyclare pass off and both teams were a bit rusty with tackles being missed .Scores were plenty with Jack scoring for Academy frequently. Ballyclare started to get on top in the second half with Academy keeping the ball for long periods but unable to go forward.
Before the next game began the coaches emphasised the need for Academy players go forward with the ball .
The second game was against a different set of Ballyclare players .
Both teams starting off well and was very even with both teams starting to get their tackles together. Academy started to run forward more and turning to present the ball in the tackle was good. Scores were from Jack,Tom and some strong running from James and Matthew.
The final game (10 aside) had all the players involved with lots tackling from both sides. This was the best quality of rugby being played . Both sides had strong runners and the match was watched by a large crowd of enthusiastic parents.
Academy scored through Jack,Ben and Nik .
A great morning of rugby for the kids with both sides happy with the progress of their players.
Hot dogs and drinks were well deserved.
See you all on Saturday.
